About

Phil’s Technology World

My Tech World is a blog site focussed on industry or technology events that interest me or are relevant to the sort of web development work I do.  My hope is that if I find the stuff I note down on this site to be useful, others will also gain something from it too.  The topics that are grabbing my attention lately include ASP.Net MVC, jQuery, Semantic Web, web browsers, web standards and .Net.

I should point out that this blog is as much a creative outlet as it is a diary of personal learning. I do not suggest that everything written here will always be best practice or even necessarily 100% correct. It is a series of articles of things I’ve learned, discovered or am currently thinking about. Use what you can but explore other examples where available.

Phil Wheeler

I am a senior developer currently working for a Wellington-based software house in Dunedin, New Zealand, specialising in Microsoft technology. I began my IT career as a contractor to IBM on a banking engagement and moved from there through various consulting and software support development roles in Wellington before moving my family back down south.

My background has largely been in support development and I consequently have certifications in ITIL, support desk administration software and have also completed a New Zealand Diploma in Management majoring in applied and personnel management.

In what little spare time I have, I am raising my two boys, teaching drums, playing cricket and squash and doing the odd bit of freelance work.
